The Democratic primary for State Treasurer provides voters with a clear choice
about the direciton of Vermont politics. On the one hand we have Jeb Spualding,
business leader, former State Senator and educational policy maker whose entire
career reflects moderation, thoughtfulness and an earnest desire to make Vermont
a better place to live and work. On the other, Ed Flanagan, certainly intelligent,
but possessed by a blinding ambition for political power, and a demostrated
willingness to wield that power against friend or foe alike when it will advance
his self interests. Spaulding's focus is squarely on Vermont; Flanagan appears
to be a lot more interested in Washington.
The voters in Washington County know Jeb Spaulding. He owned and managed a
great local radio station for many years, when he talks about he difficulties
facing a small business he speaks from experience. He's learned about some
of the issues facing our family farms the same way, by operating a stock farm.
As our State Senotr Jeb was always responsive to local concersn, while at
the same time establishing himself as the leader in the Vermont Senate on
educaitonal issues (issues Jeb continued to wrok on as a member of the Vermont
Department of Education).
For those who decid to vote in the democratic primary, the choice is clear.
Vision or ambition? Public interest or personal interest? Vermont or Washington?
Spaulding or Flanagan?

Liking Spaulding
My reputation as a person who does not stand for oppression of an individual's
rights by the government is well known in central Vermont. Equally recognized
is my reputation for getting a maximum return for my dollar.
I moved to central Vermont to raise a young family many years ago after a
successful career with the Internal Revenue Service. One of the first public
officials I met and learned to respect was Jeb Spaulding. Through the past
20 or more years (God, I'm getting old!) I have occasionally had to contact
Mr. Spaulding on issues pending at the Statehouse. Jeb has always responded
to my phone calls, and listened to any opinion, and has most importantly acted
accordingly when presented with facts and op inions. He is, by far, the candidate
of choice for the Vermont State Treasurer's office.
I would encourage all of my fellow Vermonters, without any regard to party
lines, to vote for Jeb Spaulding in the upcoming elections. How can I be so
certain that my decision to urge this kind of support of Mr. Spaulding is
correct? Heck, in addition to hisknowledge, experience, and skills, the man
was also seen fearlessly supporting his Second Amendment Rights by attending
the Barre Gun Show earlier this year! If I'm going to trust anyone with investing
and protecting my tax dollars, it's going to be Jeb Spaulding, our soon to
be new Vermont State Treasurer.

Ambassador Jeb
An honest, hard-working, intelligent, clean living gentleman who knows the
economic condition of this great state inside and out describes Jeb Spaulding.
Tuesday's primary for the Democratic Party nomination for state treasurer
will have two names from which to choose.
No Employing any catty, misleading propaganda in his campaign is another mark
of someone with ethics that will translate well to others as Spaulding becomes
our ambassador to the boards of directors around the country. A treasurer
holds great sway among the power brokers who can only sit in awe of our state's
tremendous credit rating.
The integrity of a man can be measured in how he handles himself during a
competition such as an election. My money is on Jeb Spaulding. The primary
is the first step towards proper ambassadorship.

Spaulding Choice For Treasurer
I am writing this letter in support of Jeb Spaulding for the Democratic nomination
for state treasurer. I am confused as to why Mr. Flanagan continues to make
the issue of school vouchers a campaign issue since the state treasurer's
office has nothing to do with whether or not Vermont should or should not
support school vouchers. While this is an important issue, it is not one in
which the office of state treasurer will be involved.
We need our state treasurer to manage the state's cash efficiently and accurately,
as well as being an advocate for prudent and socially responsible fiscal policies.
The Treasurer is the watchdog for the state's bond rating on Wall Street and
must monitor the pension funds for state employees.
But even more important, we need someone who is not divisive and who will
be able to forge relationships with both Republicans and Democrats so that
we get things done for Vermont. A vote for Jeb Spaulding will ensure that
will happen. We need his leadership in Montpelier.
Vote for Jeb in the September 10th primary.
